Thinking it Through : The Land of the Lost Weekend
Posted by Warren Hicks on 2010/3/11 9:10:00 (30 reads)

Australia was once called the "Land of the Long Weekend" because we loved our leisure time. Thinking it Through : Does Richard Dawkins Exist?
Posted by Warren Hicks on 2010/3/9 16:10:00 (65 reads)

Richard Dawkins has decided to take on religions in all its forms in order to convince us that we would stand a better chance of eternal bliss if we gave up all belief in eternity entirely. However can we be certain that Richard Dawkins exists?

Thinking it Through : Can Man Be Trusted to Live Under Grace?
Posted by Warren Hicks on 2010/2/12 15:10:00 (43 reads)

One of the problems with the idea that salvation is free and guaranteed for life, is that it sounds like a licence to let its recipients do what they like. Here are some reasons why it couldn't work any other way.

Thinking it Through : Work Imitating Art
Posted by Warren Hicks on 2010/1/31 17:12:41 (16 reads)

Work is greatly misunderstood in this fallen world. The world thinks it gets in the way of leisure while evangelicals think it gets in the way of grace and denies faith, but having something useful to do that matters, actually lies at the heart of our salvation and makes it worth having.

Thinking it Through : Media Watching and Wariness
Posted by Warren Hicks on 2010/1/18 16:20:00 (28 reads)

The ABC's Media Watch cops it from the operators in the media who regard themselves to be high priests of truth and don't like anyone calling them to account. Given their record of lies and sensationalism I find it hard to believe that most people still believe the things they say. When Christians engage the media they need to engage their minds.

Thinking it Through : The Million Pound Bible
Posted by Warren Hicks on 2010/1/18 16:20:00 (31 reads)

We Australians have sadly forgotten the only reason refugees head to our shores in leaky boats is that we have a culture based on the principles of God's word. This may never had ocurred were it not for brave translators like William Tyndale, who made it possible for every Englishman to read it for himself.

Thinking it Through : What Piper Do You Pay on Christmas Day
Posted by Warren Hicks on 2009/12/23 9:10:00 (18 reads)

The Pied Piper of Hamlin is a cautionary tale to remind us that there are severe consequences for those who refuse to keep promises. The celebration of Christmas is a kind of promise in that it acknowledges one's desire to participate in God's plan of salvation for mankind. So if you up for celebrating Christmas it might be good for you and your children to remember who you really get your blessings from.

Posted by Warren Hicks on 2009/12/8 9:07:03 (111 reads)

Niether Jesus nor any of the New Testament writers suggested we celebrate Christmas, and given the ridiculous secular traditions that have taken over this event, one might ask; "Should Christians celebrate it at all?"
