Don’t pretend you were surprised about judgement
The reason mankind chooses to suppress the evidence for God is not that his existence is impossible to believe intellectually, but that we have this terrible suspicion that the objective moral standards we all know exist will go against us on the day of judgment and we'd rather seek comfort for our consciences without having to appeal to God for forgiveness.
